A Christmas Thank you

Dear Sir

I am writing, on behalf of Alton Lions Club (CIO), to thank all those who contributed to our recent Christmas appeals.

The Alton Lions Christmas Card appeal raised £5,672 which enabled us to deliver Sainsbury’s vouchers to 114 families and individuals in need and 43 gifts bags, designed to bring seasonal cheer to elderly folk living alone in the community or in care homes, and with no nearby relatives. The funding was also used to support Christmas parties for various community groups.

A special ‘thank you’ also this year to those who donated to the Alton ‘Santa Sleigh’. This was the first year the sleigh run has been organised and run by Alton Lions Club and the response was amazing. Despite a somewhat reduced programme to ensure manageability, the initiative raised a staggering £8,106 which will go to support local community youth projects.

Applications for this funding can be made via the Santa Sleigh website at altonsanta.org.uk. The closing date for applications is 1 March 2024.

Last, but by no means least, I would like to express a massive ‘thank you’ to all our amazing volunteer supporters who helped Alton Lions in posting cards and in accompanying the Santa Sleigh – your contribution was, and continues to be, invaluable.

Alton Lions Club would like to wish everyone living and working in Alton and the surrounding villages a Very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!
