Alton Lions Easter Eggstravaganza Achieves £1200 Donation for Bushy Leaze School

Alton Lions Club was delighted to make a donation of £1200 to Bushy Leaze School. This was made possible through the generosity of people in Alton and local villages in supporting the Alton Lions ‘Eggstravaganza’ Easter Egg Draws. The Eggs were placed in participating pubs and clubs throughout the town and surrounding areas. Over the past 5 years the ‘Eggstravaganza’ project has realised £6,600 for Bushy Leaze School programmes .

This year the participating outlets were Alton College, Bushy Leaze School, the Railway Arms, the Bakers Arms, the Wheatsheaf, the Kings Head, the White Horse, the Market Hotel, the Three Horseshoes, the Eight Bells, the Golden Pheasant, the White Hart, the Golden Pot, the French Horn, the Royal Oak, Lasham, Alton Community Centre, the Conservative Club, the Angel Hotel at Privett, Worldham and Four Marks Golf Clubs. A special thank you goes to all those establishments.

This year the funds will be used by Bushy Leaze School to support special needs pre-school children and their parents. It helps to enable Bushy Leaze to continue with programmes after Hampshire County Council had withdrawn funding.  Head Teacher, Patti Snook, explained that the Alton Lions donation from ‘Eggstravaganza’ had been critical in this respect.  One such programme is the ‘Cook and Eat’ course that encourages healthy home cooking and provides vulnerable and needy families with much needed support and practical advice on nutrition.
