Re: Japan Earthquake & Tsunami
On behalf of The Lions Club of Alton, I am writing to thank the people of Alton and customers of Sainsburys for giving their generous support to our collection on Friday 1st April for the Japanese earthquake and tsunami disaster.
The response was a magnificent £500, which will be sent to the Lions Clubs International Fund for onward distribution to Lions Clubs in Japan. Although 10 Lions Clubs were completely lost in the disaster there are still 31 clubs in Sendai, the largest city affected, and nearly a club in every town along the coastline. Now that the roads have re-opened Lions from all over Japan are there to give relief to those who are enduring such unimaginable pain and suffering.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the management of Sainsburys for allowing Alton Lions to collect at their store.
