Alton Lions Club (CIO) and Alton Lions Supporters have presented a new commemorative bench to the town.
Described as “a real statement piece” and crafted by local woodcarving artist, Jonathan Cleaver, the large oak bench has a carved lion on one end and a lioness and cubs on the other.
An inscription on the back-rest of the bench reads: “Dedicated to all past members of Alton Lions Club”.
Installed in a prominent place in Anstey Park, the bench was officially handed over to Alton Town Council on Remembrance Day (November 11) during a short ribbon-cutting ceremony presided over by Alton Town Mayor cllr Pam Jones, and Alton Lions President, Atul Patel.
Mayor Pam thanked the Lions for all they have done for the town over many years and, of course, for “the beautiful new bench”.
President Atul thanked the Mayor for her attendance and appreciation.
